Maria by Blondie was closer to Denis than we are to Maria.

I see you've removed the make up. Did Scotland perform so poorly that you now support Germany?

As I've said elsewhere

Saddened to see the “anyone but England” attitude of some of my fellow Scots today. And as someone with a genuine affinity with Germany, having seriously considered holidaying there in ‘93, I find it a little patronising to myself and my German amigos on our big day.

For those of you who say it's cold, consider this...

The coldest temperature ever recorded in summer in the UK is -5.6 °C recorded on 9 June 1955 in Dalwhinnie, and again on 1 and 3 June 1962 in Santon Downham in Norfolk.

You’re not allowed to swear if playing in Wimbledon. Because of this, line judges have to learn curse words in every language.

In 1972 a Dewsbury man appeared at Wakefield Crown Court accused of stealing stone, timber, metal, track, chairs and even the buffer stops from the site; in the words of the prosecution counsel "what the case really comes to is that this man last August in effect stole Cleckheaton station"*.

The court found the man not guilty deciding that he had been duped and left significantly out of pocket.

*It has the distinction of being the only British railway station to have been stolen.

John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.
He made his mark in the center and it's the largest signature on the document, likely because he was President of Congress at the time, according to the National Archives.

His bold signature is the reason people use the phrase "put your John Hancock" when referring to signing your name.

If a statue of a person in the park on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle.
If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle.
If the horse has a all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.
