In 1859 Thomas Austin released 24 rabbits onto his Australian estate. By 1920 their descendants had reached 10 billion.

In hindsight what a ****head!

Yes, there have been lots of unintended consequences of introducing species. But was the science and knowledge available at the time. Australia and NZ are so remote that their ecosystems are unique, and many species have been introduced causing huge problems. You would think the snake and dingo population might keep rabbits in check.
Rabbits are not native to the UK, they were introduced by the Romans but didnt really get established until the Normans reintroduced them. However we have predators to keep the population in check.

In 1976 Ron Wayne, one of Apple's co-founders, sold his 10% stake in the company for $800. It would be worth around £320 billion dollars today.

It’s an interesting story because he was much older than the other two directors, and was brought in as the sensible experienced operator just to get the company up and running. He was in his 40s whilst Jobs and Wosniak were both early 20s.

He was only an employee for a few month and the other two would almost certainly have bought him out at some point, well before the company value went stratospheric.

He was also quite risk averse and had a good job at Atari so wasn’t as passionate about Apple as the other two creators.

He did get paid a further $1,500 to forfeit any future claim on the company.

Yeah shame they introduced Myxomatosis, first deliberately introduced to France in 1952 by 1953 it had reached the UK decimating what was a valuable food source for poorer country folk

I didn’t know that it was deliberate.
The UK population fell by 99%.
There must have been a lot of wild rabbits about in those days!

I knew it was deliberate (and illegal) but thought it was earlier. I do know that during the war my Mum used to be sent out with a bag collecting wild garlic and other herbage to feed to the Rabbits my Great Grandfather kept for the pot (30+ hutches in the garden and his allotments) this supplemented their usual diet of Carrot tops and Cauliflower leaves etc. and he reckoned it made em taste better.

Family friends (a work colleague of my Mother during WW2) kept rabbits (and other animals) on their smallholding after the war. He always stated he'd never eaten another rabbit after 'mixxy'

Similar here. As a lad of the 50s rabbit was a regular meal but we never had it after mixxy struck.
