REALLY annoying click from the cranks

Have you checked your cleats? One of my mystery clicks and odd feelings was caused by a loose cleat. Took everything else apart before I tried this though....

I have a really annoying click that I only notice on climbs...turned out to be my ankle!

Clicking from the crank arm is often due the bottom bracket not having enough grease on the threats (ie dry) and usually comes on after a few hundred miles of having the bike. Happened to both mine, simply removing the bottom bracket and regreasing the threads stopped it

simply removing th ebottom bracket ...erm...well I'm not finging it that simple as I dont have the right tool...what do i need and where do i get such a tool?

Looks like the dawes has the external bearings, so is actually easy the park tools web site takes you through it

I've had a similar problem with my left crank until last nights commute home....and the whole crank and pedal fell off!! 20 min walk to nearest bike shop to find out they have sold out of left cranks and won't be getting any until end of week
