Hello and welcome the site @The ancient cyclist .Pics would help but won't have enough posts to put them up, you might be a bot!
Hello did you sell your Raleigh Record Sprint?Hello! I'm new to this site, but found the above chat on a Google search of 'Raleigh Record Sprint'. I have finally decided to sell my old one, as it is just sitting in my garage, unridden. It is of the type in the brochure photo with the red and yellow stripes along the top. I thought I bought it in 1981, but possibly a year or two earlier. It is pretty much original, just has new handlebar tape and a new saddle, (which I will keep), although I may well have the original one somewhere. It also has new tyres. I rode it until about 3 years ago and it only needs a little tweaking with the gears. It is in good, used condition. Not pristine, but frame has virtually no chips and all gold items still present. I am 5'5". I was planning on putting it on ebay soon, so if anyone is interested or knows anyone who might be...
I'd need a ladder to get on that.More of these for those of us blessed with long legs then. View attachment 401852
Oh and BTW this is a 531c 'Road - Ace'
Time to look out those elasticated Y frontsI've just seen a black and gold Record Sprint for sale locally at £30, but again its enormous. 25" I think.
Have most of us shrunk?
What was wrong with the hubs ? Most of mine are Maillard .I sold my totally mint 1986 Record Sprint for £160 in 2018, it even had 18mm original tyres.
Problem was, it was too nice a condition to ride.
They look nice, but the components aren't great, the maillard hub is a joke.

I vaguely remember Raleigh published a size chart that recommended an inch or so larger frame per rider height than most others at the time. They look very attractive bikes . I've only seen 25 inch ones for sale and wondered if they only came in that size .
I think mine was 22 1/2 (second hand) Did like the black frame and gold decals and componentsThey look very attractive bikes . I've only seen 25 inch ones for sale and wondered if they only came in that size .
still a 531 'handmade' frame though, mine is the earlier pearlescent white version. That Team Record looks fantastic, I always liked the Road Ace too, it was a production bike, but nice, this one:
