I don't mind getting wet, but I felt the same when I had to commute on my new, shiny bike in the rain.

Don't know why no one's mentioned it yet, but thanks to CycleChat I discovered the number one must have for keeping the bike, and especially the chain, in tip top shape no matter what the weather: Baby wipes. Aptly named. Gotta love 'em.
