bit of blurb on quick release mechanisms. It also describes the two main designs of quick release and identifies one as less reliable. Be warry of over tightening the mechanism too much, as you could end up stripping the threads of the adjoining nut. The video posted above is good to follow!
I over-tightened a QR skewer once, over several months, and eventually the skewer snapped. Fortunately for me this occurred while I was cleaning the bike at home, so no injury except to my dignity :rolleyes:.

John Forester wrote some books on cycling, most notably Effective Cycling, and a biography of his father, C.S. Forester. Had some interesting and controversial views on cycling, and was a proponent of the positive retention device. About 800 pages of cycling information.(even made into a movie, Effective Cycling-The Movie) Not as good as Horatio Hornblower series. But there's more cycling.
