Why do most cyclists on road bikes use cleats that you can't walk in when SPDs do the same job and you can walk in them easily?

(Walks away and takes shelter)

Ever tried to walk across a wet tiled floor in them?
It's nuts, I use SPD's myself, given they were developed with MTB Racing in mind, surely they are secure enough.

There was a cartoon showing all the different washing products aimed at women, the man's section had "all in one shampoo, shower gel, car wash fluid, washing up liquid"

The price changes as well
There was a big fuss many years ago when it was found that Bic were selling their old yellow razor for one price
but the pink version for women - which was exactly the same except for the colour - was twice the price

I suspect the marketing people know which products men will pay for and which they won;t
for example - shaving foam/gel/whatever - seems to have several different brands and some are much more expensive
but shaving is a "manly thing to do" (after all - women never shave!!!!)

marketing is interesting - cynical, abusive and profiteering - but interesting trying to work out how they are thinking

I looked at the time on my phone and saw we'd already moved forward an hour. This was at 01.20, but I saw it showing 02.20. I thought the clocks went forward at 2am, not 1am. 🤔 Yes, I'm almost sure in late October when they go forward they change at 2am, as I posted about the change on CC once when it happened a few years ago. 🤔

In Late October, they go back, not forward.

And they go back from 2AM to 1AM, while in March they go forward from 1AM to 2AM.

So in both cases they are switching between 1AM and 2AM, just doing it in opposite directions.

At the 'appointed' hour it wouldn't be that hour anyway ,or would it?
The full 24 hr day would have to run ,or timetabled services would be an HR short or an HR longer unless that particular service is cancelled , it's all arbitrary really..
Personally I think BST , / UIT / GMT is silly, it bought to remain ascis , the only real thing to take account of is a base international date time, so we can all take time from a base time.

There is a case for regional time as there would be and is an appreciable change East or West you travel from GMT.

UST (Universal Standard Time) IS that base international time, and is what all other times around the world are based on.

And yes, of course regional times are neeeded, if you want be always having morning in the AM etc.

As fro Daylight saving time (BST in eth UK), I tend to agree with you, but there are far more countries in the world which do apply it than which don't. With most of them changing in the last full weekend of March and October. There are calls every year for it to be abolished (though most would have us go to BST all year round), but few significant politicians seem interested.

My brother-in-law probably has an idea that he might be thick

because even his kids have given up and can often be heard saying "For ***'s sake Dad stop being so thick"
poor bloke - he can't help it
(but I bet he has never give anyone too much change in his taxi - not so thick when it comes to money!!)

That's me my ex wife will call me stupid at regular intervals. Not seen as domestic abuse though.

I was regularly pulling my shoes out of traditional toeclips/straps, and then I changed to SPD's (2 - bolt)........ what a revelation, and I wish I'd done it many years before. In about 12 years I've only pulled a foot off twice IIRC, and that's on the lowest tension setting. A while back there was a guy at our local Lidl store putting his very expensive bike in the area between two sets of doors (foyer?) as he didn't have a lock - he then skated around and just about got his balance (like Bambi  ) I thought he'd end up breaking a leg soon. I suggested he could use the MTB type SPD's instead of the 3-bolt type he had, but he was adamant he had to have them because that's what the bike shop said he needed for a racing bike. The 3-bolt type may be better for ultimate security (I don't know, I haven't tried them), but if the customer is more suited to something else it makes sense to fit it.

About the only advantage I see over the 3 bolt, I think is the bigger interface with the pedals, crowd types don't dismount , except for a coffee and bun, whereas MTB 'S may involentary dismount anytime, and into a very claggy substrate, the smaller area may help to engage the cleats, certainly I've never had problems , but I am not a racer
