When is a bluebell not a bluebell? For at least 21 years, we have had bluebells coming up among the trees in front of our kitchen. My wife seems to think she recalls us planting them, but I have always thought they had spread under our fence from a former neighbour's garden.

The point is that for the first 10 to 15 years they were exclusively blue. Then a few years back a few pink ones started to emerge each year. I wondered whether this could have been like a sort of litmus paper reaction to the acidity/alkalinity of the soil, but I did read that some foreign (Dutch?) varieties do include pink flowers. They are spreading like mad to other parts of my garden, but all of the ones appearing in new places are blue.

Last year two thirds of the main patch came up pink and one third blue. This year it is more like 50/50, but with one sole white one amongst them. I think a scientist would probably say this is a natural genetic variation, but if pink was becoming dominant then why have some reverted to blue this year? With three different colours, are they still bluebells? Is there another name?

A scientist would say you have the native species and the Spanish one, plus hybrids from both.

Why bother with those obviously not a real barking dog thingies, that when activated give out a recording of a what's supposed to sound like a big scary dog's loud bark? I remember them from my window cleaning days, when knocking on customers doors for the money etc. I could knock then off it went, then step back and repeat the process. If I was a person hoping for some reason that the home owners weren't in, then easily worked out the totally unconvincing sound I'd be at an advantage! In my opinion silence, or a real big barking dog would be better.

There is possibly a button somewhere you are pressing by accident, which determines whether it show icons only or icons and text. But if so, I can't find it in the Twitter fed on my browser (I don't have the app installed anywhere).

I have seen things suggesting the labels are automatically collapsed when the screen size is below a certain number of pixels wide - which would mean you would maybe get the labels in landscape mode, but not portrait on you phone.

I sprayed a wasp with 'Raid' today. I hate euthanising creatures but I couldn't get it to fly and a window and I couldn't take a risk by leaving it, in case it tried to sting me. My question is, when I sprayed it, it was near to the washing up I'd done earlier on my sinks draining area. I'm worried that the spray might've dropped onto the washing up. Yes, I could wash them all again, but I thought I'd ask first if wasp spray is dodgy if it touches cups, plates etc? 🤔

If there is a lot of it, yes. If it was just a drop or two, I wouldn't worry.

I gave the wasp 2 quick bursts. One which was about 3 feet away and 2 feet above the washing up. I always place cups, plates etc downwards or facing down, so if some spray has landed on them it won't have touched where food and tea/coffee make contact.

Put some jam outside the window and wasp 🐝 will out the window in no time.

When you've parked up at the services in a fairly empty car park, with at least five empty spaces either side of you, why would someone come along in a van and park right next to you, leaving such a small gap that they struggle to open their door?

I once parked my camper van on a site near Lairg which was otherwise empty. It was a field of about
15 acres. Shortly after a couple with a tent arrived and pitched so close their tent pegs were beside my van wheels. I was leaving at about 5.30 next morning and tripped over their guy lines while getting packed up. Idiots.
