How do top-end manufacturers manage to sell ugly glasses with thick plastic frames? When I was a child people who wore glasses like that got the piss taken out of them.

I think it goes something like this:

Famous person wears something stereotypically "ugly" or "nerdy" to try and be different.
Because the famous person is famous and therefore "cool", rich people then buy the same stuff to also look cool.
After a while, affordable brands copy the look so everyday people can buy the ugly stuff and it becomes a highstreet trend.

UGG boots! OMG how on earth are they even a thing still? I have never seen anyone wearing one without the sole sloping inwards. Seriously, do they come with an inwards sloping sole unit out of the box? They offer no foot support. And to think I once worked with someone who went walking in the LAkes and used her UGG boots thinking they were good walking boots!! She is now a farmer wearing sensible and farmers supplied work boots. Never seen her with Ugg boots since that Lakes trip. At least she learnt from her mistake!!

I think if you're gonna have to wear something on your face, you might as well wear something on your face. Fashion, innit.

I just want to be able to see things properly - what they look like to other people is not my problem
(but my wife does have views - at leats that shows she looks at me now and again!!!

(probably connected to the fact that I never look at my self in a mirror if I can help it
when my wife moved in she complained that I didn;t have a single mirror in the whole house
not one - of any kind!!!

No such thing as ugly glasses, just ugly wearers.
