Thanks a lot. I'll look at it later. I saw the first half of 'That/The Sugar Film ' the other night. Quite good, and also available on youtube.

I've been trying to find out more about the subject and respond here, but the kids are sucking the lifeblood out of me at the present.

I have also added some more youtube video links to my earlier posting.

People are obese because they eat crap and don't exercise, end of story. The navvies who dug the canals lived on beer and steak and they were not obese - tough hard working yes - but not obese.
Many did not live long even if not killed by the poor safety at work and that's the underlying problem in this discussion. Is the aim not to be obese or not to die prematurely? After all, obesity is just one risk factor and it is quite possible to eat crap, exercise lots to burn it off, not be obese but die young...

I'll have to look up what 'labneh' is ... Ah, Greek yoghurt - wonderful stuff. I don't buy it often because even though I don't hold with the fad for low fat, I think 1.5 kg of Greek yoghurt a week might be a bit much when I am trying to get my weight down!

It would probably be better for you than the choccy bars you used to consume ;-)

True but I am cutting down on those too. I had managed to put 1.5 stone of the 5 I'd lost back on!

I now usually eat mixed nuts and raisins with my afternoon coffee instead of cake. I find it hard to stop nibbling so I have 2 scoops and use them to keep the portions under control - a medium scoop for the nuts and a small one for the raisins, no going back for seconds!

I try to have significantly more evenings without chocolate than with. I probably have chocolate 2 or 3 times a week now rather than 4 or 5, and in smaller amounts. I hope to get that down to 1 or 2 times a week.

I gave up having sugar in tea when I was a teenager, cos I wanted to lose weight. Going from 2 spoons to nil instantly made tea taste disgusting for a couple of weeks, but now any sugar in tea tastes disgusting. Sadly, I still like other sweet things, but am about to make an effort to cut down on the sugar, starting with switching to natural yogurt on my cereal, and trying to find cereal bars with no added sugar (the latter may not be possible!)
The tea and coffee bit I understand fully. But as you said , your taste changed and you get used to it . Good luck in the low sugar alternatives . H Forman do unsugared smoked salmon and it tastes sooooo much better than tesco finest .

I used to have loads & loads of sugar on my breakfast cereal, now I can have weetabix & shredded wheat etc with no sugar at all and I like it. Its weird what you can get used to if you try.
