hope he is ok and not one of those imported dogs . i would take him to the vets and get him looked over asap as you do think he younger than they said he was .just to be on the safe side and to keep him well . treat him like an 8 week old dog as well . he is a lovely looking lad and hope you have lots of lovely time with him .

We have just been out in the garden for 20 minutes, immediately after tea. Did he toilet? Did he hell. He waited until he got back indoors and squatted with a very relieved look on the paper in the bathroom. You'd think that having been kept in an outside run on grass that he'd have worked it out  Bless him.

As it's a bit chilly out for a wee pupster like himself, we have chopped the arm off an old fleece jumper and cut holes in for his front legs so he can stay a bit warmer while out. He seems to like his wee sweater.

New Piccy. (without the sweatshirt sleeve jumper)

I shouldn't think that he is imported. They looked like lamping people with breeding runs attached to their caravan area. The bitch was in nice nick and did look like she'd whelped within the last couple of months.
We weighed again today and he is now 2.12kg which is a vast improvement on 2.06kg. That's a whole stack of weight in 24 hours. Vet's tomorrow at 4.30pm. We rang the vet as soon as we'd got him on board and in an area that had some network.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernese_Mountain_Dog I should think.

Lovely dogs, although I wasn't always so impressed when muddy ones arrived to be groomed.

Nearly! He's actually an Entlebucher, which are very rare in the UK, he brings their numbers to about 50. They're related to the Bernese as they are 2 of 4 Swiss Mountain Dogs breeds. He seems on the large side for the breed but shouldn't be as big as a Lab once fully grown. He currently matching the 3 labs at puppy class though....

Your new chap is looking good in the pics, saluki. I sort of wanted to go down the rescue route but I only ever had dogs when I was a kid and my partner was never allowed pets so thought that might be a bit risky. We had to make sure we looked at pics of adult dogs when we were researching, otherwise I think we'd of gone for one of every breed, all puppies are lovely it seems!

Closer than most, Beagle is the usual guess! Did see the Bernese first but the size is a bit off putting and they seem to have health issues. Entlebuchers have the same colouring without the size or breed health issues, though they are more energetic!

Ah, cool. I did think when Saluki suggested Bernese that it didn't look quite right, I knew one slightly once. But I thought I might be mistaken.

I follow a few people on Twitter who retweet appeals to rehome rescue dogs, and it breaks your heart sometimes. Especially Staffies and the like, who you have to suspect were bought for status reasons and then dumped when they got to be hard work, or just boring.

If NT and I ever get a dog, which we've talked about a bit, I think it'll be a rescue.

A Beagle! The colouring made me think BMD but the short coat threw me but every so often breeds do throw something odd up. For instance my Parson's Russell is 17" tall rather than the usual 14". I had a very short coated Saluki, no ear, leg or tail feathering. Looked more like a Slougi.

I should think that your Hendrix is far easier to groom than a BMD without that massive amount of coat to sort out. What's his moulting like?

Cousin has a 5/6 year old Bernese/ Lab X rescue... she's totally bonkers but lovely and slowly calming down. Very possessive of food including anything found and eats everything when out.
The dog's been to the vet as she went lame last week, vet suspects bone cancer which is breaking my cuz's heart... waiting for biopsy.

So sorry to hear about your Cousin's dog. Hopefully it's nothing horrible.
My vet suspected bone cancer when my GSD went lame suddenly. I thought that it was a bit of a leap for a first off so I saw another vet who took a quick X-ray and it was a cracked bone in his paw.

Why?

We did consider Vincent. Fine rock star sort of name that.

Ludwig had a good night. He squeaked a bit to start with and migrated from his basket to Millie's basket. Millie migrated to the bottom of the bed, under the duvet. He woke up at 3 am and squeaked some more so I stroked him for a minute as he fell asleep again.
He has stuffed breakfast - played in our garden - had 2nd breakfast and is now wanting lunch but he'll have to wait another hour or so.

Now happily entertaining himself with an empty yoghurt pot. Corduroy bunny is being ignored today.

Because it sounds better than "Ludwig"! Have you thought this out? Shouting "come here Ludwig" in a busy park is going to get a few .
