Marathon's for me (don't want the hassle of a visit from the fairy on route to or from work - so reliability is more important than speed for me). There is often broken glass etc on the road, and occasionally I sit down and pick the bits out of the tyres ... they have now done almost 5000 miles and had 2 deflation events at the very beginning of 2009, none since (and they were probably due to not being inflated properly).

I've got one on the front of my commute with an M+ on the rear. It seems pretty tough so far and it's a lot faster (profile) and lighter than the M+.

What a crap day, had the flat this morning then less than two miles my way home the back tyre flattens again...
I have no spare tube as I used it in the morning, I tried to repair the other tube but it was perishing or the shards were weakening it (likely) and run out of glue in the process, cue me being stranded 15 miles from my car, not good.
Managed to get rescued by a work collegue and taken to car (thanks Paul), then I locked myself out of the car and had to ring the wife to fetch my spare keys, twenty minutes drive away.

Anyways getting to the point which tyres are more shard / puncture resistant the Continental Four Seasons or the Continental Gatorskins, I want the protection but not at the expense of rotating mass, oh and I am on 700 /23mm tyres.

Cheers

Hello Sysagent, born and bred not far from you! On the subject of puncture proof tyres, they don't exist at least not in the inflatable variety.
I've done just over 16,000 miles on Bontrager Racelite Hardcase and no punctures yet, it's going to happen at some point but at less than £12 per tyre, can't be beaten. Marathons are good commuter tyres but getting the damn things on and off is another matter. That counts for a lot with me, changing a tube should only be a 5 min job, with a Marathon it's a marathon. Would rather have something a bit less bombproof but easier to change.
