Poor old Dad

Whilst at work today in a car passed a young lad dressed in full cycling kit who only looked around 9 years old on a proper road bike who was making good progress up Winton Bank near Northallerton with a great big smile on his face.
I had to feel sorry for his slightly overweight Dad who was acting a outrider behind on an old mtb who was clearly struggling to keep up and blowing badly with the sort of grimace normally only seen when someone is in extreme discomfort!
What we endure for our kids!!

He didn't think that one through eh On the plus side, if he keeps it up, he won't be slightly overweight for much longer.

My brother anticipated this and got himself an MTB as soon as his lad was riding properly, that led to a road bike and now I can barely keep up with him and he's only been riding 6 months. He does have 7 years advantage over me though

His lad is now 5 and has just moved up to a bike with gears... and is going much faster
