Please take a look at my bits

I am a hapless bicycle mechanic, but after much blood, sweat and tears I've managed to change my cassette, chain-ring and chain. After a quick test ride, with a proud smile across my chops, I started to tidy up the garage, and found two little bits on the floor (see below).

So my questions are:

1) Does anyone recognise what they are?
2) How big will the accident be if I try to ride without them?

Please note: there is a possibility that they've come from a bike tool, rather than the bike itself, but I couldn't find any tools with obvious missing parts.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes the bolt screws into the big bit. The bike rode fine, but it was literally a spin round the block. Less than a mile. I'm still planning to ride it tomorrow, but I'll take it easy until I work out where those parts came from!

DSCN1651.JPG Certainly looks very much like this crank extractor extension thingy. This one has never stayed attached to the main body of the tool and I can't think whether I have ever had to actually use it.
Apologies for a truly terrible photo.

Brilliant. That's what it is. It's come off my crank extractor. Cheers mate!

1. I think the shiny silver thing means your married.

2. If you go riding without it, Mrs HP might demand to know who you're riding with. Not sure whether that will cause an accident.
