Im told that not everyone has a brooks shaped bum.
Perhaps I am lucky..I treated myself to a B-17 and it was superb from day one.
I spent a bit of time sorting out the angles/height but it is superb.
The good news is it it doesnt suit you can get most of your money back on eebay
For a more upright riding position you may want to try a sprung version.

I use a Selle Royal (from the dreaded Halfords, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...uctId_710337_langId_-1_categoryId_165588#dtab) - has a wide backend to take my sitbones, different sizes available. I'm just below your weight - and I find it comfortable (after the initial discomfort of getting used to riding a bike). It does have gel but not overly squishy.
