Has this p**t never heard of "caveat emptor"?
When buying from a private seller, he takes the risk. A well-known, tried and tested in the courts principle. Sleep easy and ignore him.

Several points...
Ebay is weighted toward the buyers nowadays, and they dont, or will rarely delete unfair feedback unless it contains swearing etc.

The first set of rollers look in, and were advertised as fantastic condition, the photos look good, so you're not really going to be able to say he's brought a duffer, then brought yours to make a good set, blaming you (unfairly) in the end.

Has he left feedback ?

If he hasnt, stonewall him. If he gives a neg, do what you can to get it retracted (although i dont rate your chances)...and accept it happens.

Its ebay....it's likely to happen, so personally i wont lose any sleep, or let it ruin my day.

I've sold 2 items (amongst hundreds of others) to what turned out to be a completely unreasonable buyers. I quite rightly refused to refund etc etc. They threatened negs....but never carried it out.
I always put in the replies something along the lines...'i realise you can give me a negative. I stand by my description, and i'll leave it to your concience'

This hopefully lets them know you're not going to be bullied.

One final point...i have heard of people making chargebacks through Paypal. I gather they can reclaim their money and you dont always even get the item back !!! I'm not sure what, if anything you can do to prevent this. May be worth checking out. TBF, if you've got ebay on side, you should be ok.

Good luck....its a real bitch when this happens.

TACX Roller track Winter trainer cycling rollertrack (#150376984774) -- View Item

After my bearings are we????

Result - this is exactly what you(we) were looking for. Well done!

Thought you would have checked him already - I always do, to see what other sellers / buyers say before I part with the payment.

Now you've got the evidence there's no need to worry - why would he need two of these items so close together, other than to change parts?

He had too much information to quickly on these items - like, as soon as he got yours. I'd point out your suspicions to him - and see what he says, if anything. Don't think he's the sharpest tool in the box.

Good luck!

You should also PM the original seller of the 1st set of rollers asking him is his set were cracked or liable to have had worn bearings

(Is it possible the buyer may have clocked up some considerable milage on the 1st set ?)

The buyer has now opened a dispute against me via ebay using the "Item is not as described" option.

Ebay have issued me a standard reply email telling me to either offer a replacement or a refund.

Thats absolute bull mate, if the product was in good working order and he has previously bought the same product he is blatantly on the make.
You surely have his address? Go round and have a 'proper' talk with him...

Just got off the phone to eBay after 30 minutes of talking. The call operator has stated that eBay is on my side as in the listing its shows that I do not accept returns and that the postage cost more to send than listed, she also thinks that the buyer has changed his mind and wants a refund!!

Any how here is my response to the ebay resolution,,,

I described the item as thoroughly as possible, pointing out any defects on the item and providing photographs of the defects, the item was in perfect working order at the time of posting. I can verify this through an independent witness who inspected the item before I listed it.

I highlighted in the listing that I do not accept returns on this item due to the size and weight, and it would end up costing me more money in fees and postage costs. The postage cost was £19.55p not the £10 charged and I didn't pass the additional amount onto the buyer.

As the buyer has already purchased a similar set (Item number 150376984774), I assumed the bidder knew what he was buying and would have had opportunity to do any prior research before bidding.

In conclusion, I see no reason for a refund as the item was as described and in good working order.

Sorry to hear it all seems to be going pearshaped with ebay.

I agree with "Brains" - contact the first seller for info on the state of his rollers.

I still think opening up discussions with the "buyer" as to why he needs the "two" second hand sets of rollers could prove fruitful. His reputation as an honest (ebay)buyer is also at risk here - try to get him to pull his head back in. He has as much to lose as you.

I hope ebay accept your letter, it seems to be concise and to the point.

Well I had this updated message from eBay regarding this matter,,,

Dear xboxgaz (xboxgaz@aol.com),

We contacted you recently to let you know that cheeryday didn't receive the item 120483096685 Tacx Antares portable training rollers you sold them. As part of our new resolution process, we've given them a full refund.

eBay has covered the cost of the refund, and we won't attempt to recover the amount from you, as this situation appears to have been outside of your control. No further action is needed on your part. We always encourage sellers to work directly with their customer to solve any problems they encounter.

On the plus side, at least you haven't had to to refund the tosser out your own pocket, but it still doesn't seem right though does it?

Sort of a bitter pill really isn't it?
