Dear cheeryday,

Well first off, if you check my advert you'll see that I won't take returns. I have contacted eBay and it's down to my discression whether or not I'll offer a refund. Secondly, the postage cost was actually £19.67p, so I have lost out there. Thirdly, you have not explained why you are disappointed in them. If it's the marks, I did state in the advert the rollers are marked and tried to show them as best as possible in the pictures. I have used them for approx 100-150 miles with no trouble, apart from the first time when I came off. The rollers are second hand and not new, the rollers new are about £130 odd.

Dear xboxgaz,

Ok I'll just get to the point, all three rollers will need replacing because of the cracks they are about to collapse there are two or more bearings that need replacing because they are worn-out, and all in a 100 miles these tacx products are rubbish.

Dear cheeryday,

I have the original full size copies of the photos used. There were no cracks in the rollers, just some scuff marks as stated in the advert. All the bearings were running smooth and true at the time of sale and postage, as I checked these thoroughly before listing and before postage. What condition was the box in when it arrived to you? If it was damaged then it's a claim with parcelforce. Obviously I would like to see the pictures of the damaged rollers, these can be emailed to me direct, but I swear, on my daughters life, there was just some scuff marks where I came off and tyre marks on the frame.

Dear xboxgaz,

I am trying to make this as easy as possible, I can take pictures of the cracks and I will if need be, lets just concentrate on the worn bearings, that's enough to warrant a full refund plus postage.

Dear cheeryday,

I'm sorry there is no real evidence that the bearings are
worn.

I have at least 2 people who can verify this, one being the
owner of my local specialist bike shop as I did offer him
first refusal before listing them on eBay, he declined as he
already has a set of rollers as well as a Tacx turbo trainer.
He is pretty sure that the bearings are either a high grade
steel or even ceramic as he commented on how smooth they were.

When riding them you may get what appears to be bearing hum,
but this is just the noise from the belt.

I have spoken to eBay on this matter, and don't feel you have
a genuine reason for a refund.

My wife and many people at work have come to the conclusion that its either,,

  • He has tried them, bailed at the first attempt like I did and now doesn't want them.
  • Or he has a set already, but the bearings are worn in his.

I have genuinely rung eBay and they are backing me, even to the point of offering me a £20 voucher as she could hear in my voice that I'm really worried by this!
I checked the rollers thoroughly before posting and even offered them to the guy in my local bike shop prior to listing on eBAy. There is no way on earth that the bearings were worn out, or that the rollers are cracked, they are bloody solid FFS!!!!

Hi. It really does appear to be someone 'trying it on' to the max. He's hoping to force a refund and counting on the chance that you may refund him just for an easy life.
I think you're doing the right thing, being persistant, forthright and polite. You're in the right here... keep stone-walling him and he'll give up. You're keeping the tone of your letters strong, which is great. And if you keep up with the confident tone, he'll give up soon. If he leaves bad feedback, I would hope ebay would help in this instance, and remove it.
Good luck, mate. And well done.

I agree - I'm "Mr Ultra Cautious" with everything.

This guys at it - probably bought them for your bearings / parts (as you already suggested).

E-bay should take a strong line against these guys - ruining it for all the genuine ebayers. ;)

Dear xboxgaz,

Ok Your making it difficult for me now but I will send you picture of the cracks as you can only hear that the bearings have gone, anyway I have already read about the cracking at this forum, forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=156235
other people are having the same problem with these rollers but the fact is that it is not my problem it's yours.

I'd still say that's bollox. The guy is clutching at straws, if you are happy that the rollers have no cracks and the bearings were sound then do nothing. Give it a few days and then contact E-Bay to see if they have been contacted by the buyer.

My wife has also told me to ignore him for a few days. I am 100% sure there are no cracks or dodgy bearings.

Ebay are usually very good when you ring them. They once gave me £20 because of something. Someone once left me bad feedback before contacting me saying a cycle tube which I'd never even had out of the box, was USED and it had a hole in it. I refunded without question asking her to withdraw feedback & she ought to have contacted me first. She did but it left a sour taste in the mouth.

All the best of luck with your horrible buyer!
