I have sat on that very bench, several times. When I ride up to my friends' near Coventry it's my last stop where I phone/text and say "not far now".

But I haven't photographed it. Maybe next time.

Haha.

The 19-century one (maybe he couldn't make his mind up about which orientation he preferred) sadly outgunned the 14th/15th-century one. I guess that the L-R portion (actually the transepts now, the nave being the bit perpendicular to the Exe) was where the original nave was. Clyst St Mary was similarly 'rotated' by 90°.
