I just use my thumb! Free and nearly everyone has one :-)
You simply press the end of the gauge against the end of the valve. Take the insert out and hold it on square, but fairly tight. There's a bit of a knack to it but you're nearly there :biggrin:

@BimblingBee: I got caught up in the "show me your gadget" trend :blush:
@Cubist: it's not working :cry:
Retrieved a presta inner tube from the box, tried on that (adaptor and rubber insert back on), not working either! Still no reading or deflating tube if I press too much.
Giving up for tonight, lost the battle, not the war :cursing:

Here's SatNav's tip for fitting missing studs on marathon winters: a good dollop of washing up liquid on them before pushing in.
Addition from me: take a pair of long nosed pliers, grip the studs firmly half way at the straight bit, dollop of wul over them, push in with a rotating motion, they slide in.
If you get a really stubborn one, put a bit more wul.
Just done 12 in 20 min, tyres on rims fully inflated - and I've got an injured hand, could have been faster otherwise.
