What part of Coventry are you in? I went to Barr's Hill School, and lived in Styvechale.
Upper Coundon, not far from Keresley. Small world eh?

Was that when it was still a girls' grammar school or when it became a mixed comprehensive?

I went to nearby Bablake when it was still a boys' grammar school. Girls were allowed in a few years after I finished there, and then they added the junior school.

We used to meet up with the girls from Barr's Hill in Nauls Mill park at lunchtimes. When I say 'we', I really mean my schoolmates - I was horribly shy as a teenager so I used to stand to one side flushing deeply, watching the flirting and wishing that I was somewhere else, while at the same time wondering how it was possible for so much female beauty to be concentrated in just one school. Teenage hormones are powerful things...

That is a nice spin, actually. I have lived in the midlands for 18 years, and last weekend was the first time I've ridden eastwards out of birmingham. I was staying at my friends and decided to ride home to lutterworth the next day. I was pleasantly surprised - a couple of big climbs and some really nice lanes. Have a good one!
Thanks, but it didn't happen... My mum hasn't been feeling well this week so I came to the conclusion that it would be pretty selfish to whizz off on my bike and leave her alone when I was meant to be keeping her company, especially since it would have meant my sister having to do all the work in the kitchen. There's always next time! Speaking of which...

A group of fellow CycleChatters and I got together recently to do an audax ride together in Lancashire - The Mini-North-West Passage. I'm back in Coventry again in May and quite fancy doing The Cotswold Challenge. It would nice to meet some of the midland CycleChatters so I might start a thread about this event nearer the time to see if anybody fancies joining me for this century ride from Meriden to the Cotswolds and back. I won't be on the singlespeed bike though - I'll bring my geared Basso down for that.
