Last night I went to a John Boden gig at the Brudenell Social CLub, today, it's writing 50 school reports, taking a computer desk apart and taking it to the dump replace a broken spoke and getting my kit ready for tomorrow's Birdwell 100 audax ride at Barnsley.

I also have replaced the 30 tooth granny ring on the 105 chain set on my Dave Yates bike. 26 teeth will assist my hill climbing.

Tomorrow's ride should give me a clue about how successful the change has been.

I'm down in Coventry for the weekend. The weather is lovely here at the moment but unfortunately I can't get out on my singlespeed 'Cov bike' because I'm off to a 50th birthday party soon.

The forecast for tomorrow isn't great but I might be able to get out for a few hours tomorrow morning before a family meal in the afternoon. I have a nice 60 km route in mind out to Kingsbury Water Park and back. It's a part of North Warwickshire that I haven't cycled round yet.

I'm doing very little today as I have a cold and could do with the rest. However, I have an 8.30am to 10.30pm shift at work tomorrow. It pays real money so I am going in for it.

That is a nice spin, actually. I have lived in the midlands for 18 years, and last weekend was the first time I've ridden eastwards out of birmingham. I was staying at my friends and decided to ride home to lutterworth the next day. I was pleasantly surprised - a couple of big climbs and some really nice lanes. Have a good one!

Had a play with our new Alko Rotovator - flippin great..... just the right size for our veg patch - broken the soil down nicely - just need to add some compost before we replant. It's manoeuvrable enough - managed to scoot round the garlic and onions.

Wife decided to tidy up the 'shared' area over the road....... 2 x "1 tonne bags" full of branches etc..... right flippin mess - out came the hedge trimmers and chopped it up.... then the 'blower' to catch the small bits - ooh garden power tools.... then lost my wedding ring tidying the branches.....doh....

Anyway - if it's fine tomorrow I'll be out on the two wheels.....

I have been resting today. Have had a very tiring week organising, speaking at and attending a big conference, looking after guests etc. Mind you I did get a virtual 10 mile TT (i.e.: static bike) done last night in 24.56 - which isn't bad in this heat, followed by lots of weights.

Had to look that up  - the root veg - yep kept away from them - most of the area is free so that got a good going over - should have been digging it, but it saved my shoulder - it only digs a 8 inch areas, so is dead good - I think the missus will be using it from now on.

Excuse my ignorance, but where is this place exactly? I would love to go along to have a look.

It's between Port Clarance and Seaton Carew. If you head from Portrack towards Haverton Hill and through Port Clarance towards the Transporter Bridge then just before you reach the Transporter you turn left (There is a sign for Saltmarsh). It is on the left after about 1/2 mile.

We went today. It was a bit cold for the kids to be walked round the lakes, but the centre was impressive and there is a nice cafe on the first floor looking out over the lakes. They are still in the process of finishing it off, with more walks to be added and the finishing touches to the children's adventure playground (looks really good if you have kids) still needed.

At least you had a proper reason for not finishing this one

Slightly less than ideal conditions that.
