Yaaayyyy have done my first big ride since April. Thought I would be a tw*t but was ok, even met a couple of roadies who weren't friendly at all, which is a shame.

I came up behind, said 'Morning, Hi guys etc etc' and got nothing back apart from their sniggers. I believe they didn't want a woman hanging onto their ride. So I kicked up and passed.

What is that about ????? F*cking dicks. Would have enjoyed going a few mile with them.

Now I have a heap of ironing!!!

That's a bad score - although you scalped them..ha...ha....

Yeah, I took the scalps but would have preferred going a few, chatting etc. It's lonely and boring on ya tod.

It puts me off joining a club TBH.

Don't be put off a club, not based on those two.... I get 'hello's from most other cyclists, even when I scalp them....."Alright"....zoom "Howdooo......!"

I've never felt the need to be a member of a club. There again I'm not a roadie - too much lard to lose before I join any chain gang.

Around 40% of my audax rides are calendered events an I normally find someone to chat to for some of the distance and in some events I pair up with like minded riders who conspire to be lantern rouge.

The balance of audax rides are done solo as DIY or Mesh rides and are great mind emptying events. I don't find solo rides boring at all as there's quite a lot to take in visually especially in unfamiliar territory.

No specific plans for the day: ended up making an early start and decorating the kitchen (plus watching the rugby on the little tv in the corner). Mrs B is very pleased we got it done in a day, so extra roast potatoes pour moi this evening!
