can't find the frame number on my planet can rtd80 (disc braked rt80)

The frame number is in one of the following places. On the inside of the head tube / under the BB or on the inside of the chain stays ( you may have to remove the rear wheels )

Looked but can't see it. When they say inside the head tube, do they really mean that I have to take the steerer/forks out? If so, that's pointless because the police would not do that if the bike were ever recovered

Anyone else have this bike?

They also suggested data tagging. I would like to find the frame number first

I don't have that exact bike, but do have 3 PX bikes.
The number on two of them is under the BB and the other is in between the chainstays. You need to remove the rear wheel to see it..

When they say inside the head tube they mean inside the head tube. Yep, if you can't see it anywhere else at the rear, you've gotta drop the forks out. Why they can't do this for you on build surprises me.

Definitely not between the chain stays. Cleaned bike this evening and had a good look. Ran out of time to drop the fork out and look in there.

They did not bother to write the frame number on the build certificate either. Bit disappointed with that.

Anyway since frame number is not in an obvious place, I will need to look at tagging the bike somehow

When I spoke to them about mine they gave me some jackanory about it not being written on for security reasons, suggesting if its the owner that strips the bike to find the number they will be the only ones who know it. A ridiculous effort of an excuse to hide there is clearly no procedure to follow about capturing frame number during the build. I asked but what if an individual doesn't have the competence to look inside the head tube, the suggestion was to take it to a lbs and pay then to do it.

So the police are supposed to take it to their LBS as well, to find the frame number? FFS Planet X
