They arrived yesterday I had asked for silver instead of the white I originally had, I think they look so much better, did 46miles on them before the first few meters there was a bit of pinging as they settled in then they were fine.

It was so good to be back on the winter bike easy to clean, far less maintenance and so comfortable even though its only been 3 weeks I have missed this bike, my Cinelli can sigh a breath of relief about being out in the rain and road slime of winter and so can my backside from being wet!

My single speed planet x rear wheel (32 spoke) has snapped 2 spokes, they have both been within the last month, the spokes have failed when standing on the pedals working up a hill but not going all out with speed or force, is this normal?
Whether it's the rough terrain you are riding on or (like in my case) your weight that might be causing it, I can thoroughly recommend having your rear wheel re-laced with "Alpine 3" triple-butted spokes. As a 20+ stoner, I was always breaking spokes, but since I went over to these, not a single one in the last 3,000 miles or so. One of the eyes on my hub broke on an audax last month, so the spoke must have been stronger that the hub! Peace of mind.

Cheers Donger, they sound uber strong, is there a weight penalty and what's your spoke count?
I weigh 15st so wouldn't have thought I would be overloading the 32 spokes on the PX wheels especially when my good bike has a 24 count rear.

Firstly the wheels shouldn't ping a great deal when you first use them - the spokes can get twisted and the pings are the spoke correcting themselves. A good wheelbuilder would have tensioned the rim to remove most of these twists prior to sending the wheels out. I would now check your wheel for trueness.

15st and out of the saddle does put a lot of pressure on the spokes - see how you go but as Donger says - there are double and triple butted spokes available. Alternatively don't run such a big gear and learn to spin up the hills.
