Good luck to all of you.

Goo Mason has not posted on this thread recently - is he well enough to join you tomorrow?

Hope someone gets some good photos.

Reports of my absence have been greatly exaggerated

Yes, I think having tomorrow (or today now, as it's gone midnight and I'm off to hit the sack in a mo) to look forward to has helped me recover much faster. I'll be there ! Just debating with myself over when to head out for Victoria Park to get the bus. I think i might leave the flat just after 7; might get to Glasgow a bit earlier than I'd planned, but should give me time to collect my bike from the truck and get myself organised and off to the Team CycleChat meeting spot.

I'm taking my camera too; hope to get a few snaps that we can show off afterwards

Well home again, showered and fed - only the bikes to clean. It was dry, good weather and for the most part enjoyable. I did not like the long narrow footpath section on leaving Glasgow area that was strewn with broken glass and in my opinion just too narrow for the numbers. Personally, I think we should have remained on the roads.

There was an excellent trick cyclist and trial cyclist display at the finish - we were enthralled at the skill of those cyclists.

Yip. I mailed Dave/Magnatom and suggested you guys stick to the road for that stretch. I fixed a guy's puncture this morning and he said that loads of people had suffered punctures on the cycle track. Incidentaly, if you happen to read this you've left your cycling glasses here.

Sustrans no longer maintain that cycle track and it is falling to bits. I've tried telling the organisers but they don't seem to listen to anything.

What a great day you guys got though eh :0) Almost makes me wish I'd taken part... almost ;0)

Well, here's the first posting from Team Cyclechat (Magnatom & workmate, Mr & Mrs Tete, HLaB, Dayvo, Hairy Jock and me), since we've just left the pub right outside my flat and everyone's now on their many ways home.

A great day - sorry we missed you, Mr Pig - we were all on the lookout for your place but failed to spot it. I think we were spotted later by Scoosh - someone with a Range Rover yelled "Yay Cyclechat !" (or words to that effect) as Magnatom went by - I think I'd gone through a minute beforehand with the lightening-fast HLaB and Dayvo.

Shame we missed you, gavintc. We hung about the finish for a wee while until the whole team was re-assembled and the trick cyclists were still going on at that point. Afterwards we decamped to The Waterline Bar on the Shore for a few well-earned pints.

I'm sure a full report will follow shortly (along with some silent video highlights after Magnatom has edited all of the bums out ), but I'm pleased to report that:

(a) We all finished
(B) No one had any visits from that fairy
(c) No-one had any accidents (well, someone did fall off onto the grass just after the finish but I'll spare their blushes and refuse to name names)
(d) We probably put weight ON during the day, given the number of Caramel Wafers, Lions Bars, bananas, Smartie Bars, sandwiches, home-baking and pasta we managed to wolf down at the feed stops
(e) Mark Beaumont was standing near us at the first feed stop and came over for Magnatom's autograph
(f) A number of red lights were jumped (with the full authorisation of Strathclyde's finest boys in blue, of course)
(g) Someone managed to do a spot of overtaking just as an ambulance came screaming down the other side of the road with blues'n'twos going
(h) A rather beautiful young lady riding in front of Dayvo and I at one point gave us the biggest smile after being complimented by Dayvo on the view we had from behind :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

I'll just go and pull a few pics from my camera and post a link shortly.

Home safely, Thanks all for a great day. And thanks everybody for going a pace out of Glasgow that allowed me to catch up, my bus driver got lost . I was only going 17.5mph and jumped plenty of red lights but as you said they were all authorised by the boys in blue

PS Edit Goo & HJ had Cameras and I'd love to see them + magna's video.

Amazing weather you had, that must've been the best day we've had for ages!

"Mark Beaumont was standing near us at the first feed stop and came over for Magnatom's autograph"

Ha ha ha, must be the TV appearances. He's a showbiz personality don't you know ;0)

Don't know how you missed me. My little girl was standing on the balcony of the gang hut shouting and waving to the passing cyclists for about an hour.

I'm worried I may come home and find the flat stripped bare one evening if I give out my address to people on the web

I could give you my work address and you could impress my workmates by having it delivered there
