I rode End to End for the first time when I was 75 with a mate who was two years younger. We were camping and completely unsupported. Admittedly we took 29 days to do it but I make no apoligies for that. My advice to older cyclists wanting to do this ride for the first time is to know your limitations and plan your trip accordingly, but don't be put off or you will regret it.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
Why does the myth persist that when someone reaches a certain age they should sit in a chair and wait to die. Screw that! If you want to do it, go for it. Live life!
At nearly 69, I walked briskly up a steep path on a large Scottish hill yesterday, barely able to keep up with a 77 year old in our party. She hopes to come mountain biking with us on a 3-4 hour ride later in the week!

I did LEJOG in 2019 when I was 66.
Luckily, I planned it then as the following year the world closed down!
Personally, I wouldn't want to join a group but that'll be your choice.
Go for it.. You know your capabilities and how far a day you want to ride (and how many days you have to allocate to it, too!)

I hope that wasn't this week: the weather has been a trifle poor lately!
I do agree - if you can do it unsupported, camping and with no desperate time constraints, I don't see why any age would be an issue.
Maybe one day, I will do it again. I feel like JoGLE might be worth an effort - the hills are far worse down south, but by the time you'd get there, you would be stronger!

Well given @ayseven ( :welcome: by the way) has shared their success, did you ride this summer with 'Pedal Britain'?
You said a year ago "I’m considering Lejog for my 65th birthday with Pedal Britain." and you're 65 now.

Yes. Their climbing was underestimated for logistical or sightseeing reasons I assume. I am pretty sure you could do it with much less climbing. But it is a long long ride, supported or not.
