I went to the Edinburgh round last night. Very enjoyable to get so close to the riders and to see so much of them (though we were mostly out of earshot of the tannoy & so didn't have much of a clue as to the ins and outs of the races - at least the camera motorbike makes it easy to spot the leaders!)
I can't comment on the crowd size - it seemed decent but not rammed & we were able to wander around and watch from different spots without much hassle.

@fimm looked very chic in her cap last evening ^_^ - and the Ladies race was blown apart by **, as was the men's race by ** [for those don't know the result yet !] but, my goodness, 12-20 laps with that hill up Victoria St - they are tough cyclists !

@Scoosh did you get to ride your unconventional bicycle round the course?
I got to do it round the Peterborough course, infact it was the first time I'd been on a bent. Its a bit scary in the corners but fun. DSC_6569.JPG

the London round was fast and frantic. i had a great view of the finish, being a few yards after the line.

that commentato bloke, Joe Fisher, is a good laugh - i guess some might find him annoying - but i've heard him on the ToB and the Women's Tour and he does a good job of getting people enthused as well as keeping them informed. i bumped into him on the tube after the race - he was scooting across town to catch his last train home - and he was very affable.

I'm sure it was good to be there, but I watched the London round on ITV4 last night, and I have to say that it was the most uninteresting televised racing I've seen for a long time. I can understand that it's cheaper to film this than the Premier Calender races, but it makes for terrible television.

Crit's generally don't make for the most exciting watching tbh. Happy for Madison Genesis though, 2 win's, Tour Series then the Nocturne!

I'm told that the Woking race on Tuesday next will be Deano's (Dean Downing) last Tour Series race, so hope the blokes give him the courtesy shown to Magnus last year, a few laps out alone in front of the whole race to take deserved plaudits.
It almost worked at Canary Wharf for Jimmy Mac, except a couple of riders who took it into their heads to chase, which is why, it appears, Mr House had some strong words with them about professional courtesy.
I can't get there tomorrow, but anyone who can should be applauding a stalwart British pro, who has given a lot of entertainment and doubtless inspired more than a few with his quality racing style.
