This is one of the things I love about Cyclechat @wonderloaf . There's always someone who knows something about everything. Or something... And someone like me who is up for doing crackpot things. :giggle:

It'll probably be about midday before I get to Winchester @slowmotion as I'm 20-something miles north of Cambridge. Hopefully I'll be able to find a parking space. The drive itself is pretty straightforward though, thank goodness. Though if you reckon I should get there earlier in order to secure a space, then please feel free to tell me. :okay:
I've no idea if Winnall trading estate fills up with doggers on Sunday's, but I think it should be pretty empty.

Hmm...

I know @Bollo and @jay clock live in that neck of the woods as they helped me with directions when I rode out that way last year. Perhaps either can provide some enlightenment? Pretty please, gents :hugs:

Apologies - I've not been on the forum much recently but....
Winnall has an industrial estate that should be pretty empty on a Sunday. There's on-street parking near Howdens Joinery on Leicester Way, and lots more nearby.
... is sound advice. Come off at Junction 9 of the M3 On the scary roundabout off the slip road take the lane marked Winnall/City Centre, which is the third exit - be careful not to re-join the M3! The next roundabout you need the second exit for Easton Lane. The first exit will take you into Tescos. Then after about 100 yards you'll see a Costas drive through on your right. Take the right turn immediately after this on to Moorside Road. If you follow the road you can usually park on street after the first sharp left bend, but the further you go down the further you'll have to ride back ;).

Car parks are free on Sundays and the outer areas have no particular on-street restrictions but the centre of the city gets busy due to the various markets. There are also A LOT of tourists this year, so it's been busy. None of the P&Rs are particularly close to the NCN23.

Enjoy your ride.

Brilliant @Bollo - muchly appreciated. :okay:

I'm hoping to enjoy it more than last time LOL! The fact I won't need to clockwatch will make the world of difference.

I live a mile from Winall and there are no problems on Sundays where I live. I am near the station. You can park on yellow lines with no problems at all. PM me if you want a specific location on where to park near me and I can advise. It is then about 1.3 miles from my house to the big Tesco at WInall where you can get the lane to Alresford

Thanks @jay clock :okay:

Somewhere near the Tesco would be good. But I'll ping you later.

I did get myself sorted quite admirably. Found a nice space right in front of the joinery place. :okay:

So thanks for all the brilliant advice, folks, :notworthy:

Oddly, driving was cheaper than the train (I have a railcard) and I may well be doing this again. Was refreshing not to have to clock watch too much. May also be an option for during the week, but that's for another time...
