I haven’t been for a few years, but I saw some great pantomime back in the day, with some great stars, Cannon & Ball ( who have had more bums on seats than Elvis) Brian Conley who is superb, Derrick Griffith’s, a brilliant baddie, and my favourite pantomime actor Micheal Barrymore, as well as Les Dawson, Les Dennis, Britt Eckland, Anita Dobson and others I forgotten, all great performers.

Forty odd years ago I was in a few myself, I’ve been the principal boy, a pantomime dame and a baddie.

I love the Pantomime me, there’s no finer art form when produced properly.

I remember a pantomime staring Basil Brush, it must have been late 1960s. He is still treading the boards and hogging the limelight and still as entertaining and snarky as he ever was.

I met Derick Griffiths when he was doing rep with one of my mother's cousins. A real trouper and star of Play School.

Now Christmas Day (aka the festival of bah humbug on this forum) is over, the miserable grumps of Cyclechat need something else to moan about
So you reckon I am one of the miserable grumps on here???

Oh no he's not. Oh yes he is.

I just thought it odd that someone would like to start a post about something they cant stand. Personally, I would rather talk about something I like.

If that makes me a grump. I must be. If you say so.

I never liked Pantomime as a child and as I have aged I dislike it even more, it seems to be full of second rate actors dressed in the gaudiest costumes spouting the same outdated jokes, am I alone in this disike of the Pantomime or do I need to reconsider my position. (titter fom the audience)
Pantomime never seemed to figure on my childhood map but I recently went with a school party where I realised that good panto appeals to kids but, like the best kids' books, also entertains adults. Maybe I was lucky.
