Can you not fit a chain guard ?
I have one on my Dahon and i dont get a spot of oil or grease on my trousers.

Belt drives are quite good from the cleanliness point of view as well.

Fit a full length chain guard. Some Terns come fiitted with Biologic FreeDrive.

My solution - black socks. I tried trouser clips, including velcro ones, but still occasionally got oil on my trousers, plus I misplaced them a lot. I never forget my socks or if in summer I get oil on my leg it just rubs off.

It matters not a jot what you put on a chain at this time of year, they will get filthy pretty quickly. A decent quality wax and wet lube will stop the worst of any debris induced wear, but they’re not magic.

I beg to differ ,nothing sticks to a properly waxed chain ,nothing ,i did a 60mls xc the other day through mud and muck and the chain is clean enough to put on your living room carpet
