Last June we were walking up our nearest hill (Bouldsworth on the Lancashire/West Yorkshire border) and there was another couple in front of us with their young (8-9 years old) daughter. They were about 300 metres ahead of us walking in the same direction. Walking towards them was a solo guy who appeared to be dressed entirely in a khaki colour. He passed the trio in front of us and was getting closer to us when we realised why he appeared to be a sort of khaki colour - he was completely naked except for walking shoes and a small rucksack on his back! My wife's a senior nurse so there's nothing she hasn't seen but this, in the countryside for anyone and everyone to see. She wasn't too pleased with his behaviour.
The trio had stopped at a river crossing and we caught them up and the guy of the group said to us in a heavily-accented voice, "It's good to see English people fully dressed." He sounded Scandinavian and when I explained it most definitely wasn't allowed but we had heard stories of a local naked rambler, he said it didn't sound a bad idea and began taking his shirt off before being stopped by the adult female who remonstrated with him for even thinking about it. So maybe they were a bit more liberal about 'that sort of thing' than we are in Britain but even so!
