Its not the sit bones that hurt - its further forward:blush: if i was a bloke i'd have 'numb nuts"
I used to get really sore. It wasn't my sit bones either!! I even got blisters if I went for longer rides (on my 'girly' bits:blush: ). I finally got a saddle with a 'cut out' section so that the area that was getting sore was not in contact with the saddle. I only got a cheapish one from ebay, but it has been my saviour. I do get a bit numb a times, but that can be relieved by shifting about a bit. I just could not have gone on how I was.

Try a different saddle. I got the selle Italia diva, not cheap at £60 but did 115k the following day with quality shorts and no ill effects. I am not the lightest, mine is spirit level flat

no its the saddle that came with it. i wish i could find somebody else that cycled. They are all old farmers where i live !!!!!I did try looking for a cycle club here but nothing close enough ( i am in the back of nowhere )

I'm sure someone will slap me down with this comment but how about a getting a gel cover?

I must run before the serious cyclist peleton runs me over for daring to suggest such a thing.

I ended up with a Selle SMP . It's really not bad - certainly an improvement on certain bits getting squashed. Not 100% broken it in yet, but it is much much better than my other one. Not as expensive as some @ £35.99 (CRC).

On the other thread I don't think you answered if you're sitting correctly with your weight on your sit bones and only your sit bones, and not just when you consciously think about it, but all the time?

The fact that your sit bones are not sore and the soft tissues forward of them are suggests that your weight is being supported in the wrong place.

Either the saddle is not allowing your sit bones to take the weight as they should (ie it is either too wide or too narrow) or there is too much saddle in the affected area.

Maybe both. Just go to a decent dealer that can measure your sit bones and advise you on an appropriate width saddle.

eg Trek dealerships:

Spesh' do a similar thing.

Mates wife had the same issue. She had his old bike but the saddle caused her problems. I suggested they get a ladies specific saddle and she was fine. Stock issue saddles are usually poo, like wheels and tyres. They have to squeeze the budget.

I had the same problem. I bought a Specialized BG Riva (ladies) saddle for the princely sum of £25. Much much better - not perfect but way better than that horrible Selle Italia Prolink that was on my bike. The riva has a gap down the middle to take the pressure of our more sensitive bits.
