after advice from here about 'sore bits' i changed the saddle and tilted it just a teeny weeny bit down - just got back only an hour and it didnt help at all :banghead:in fact it actually felt worse than it was before, next thing to try ???

Have you got a female specific saddle ?

Perhaps you need to get a knowledgable person to see you on the bike.
It's a few years ago now but I remember telling a friend how I thought I would have to dispose of my new bike as I just couldn't get comfortable on it. He asked me to cycle back and fore past him a couple of times, and was then able to recommended an adjustment which has given me over ten years of comfortable cycling, including a LEJOG, on that same bike.

no its the saddle that came with it. i wish i could find somebody else that cycled. They are all old farmers where i live !!!!!I did try looking for a cycle club here but nothing close enough ( i am in the back of nowhere )

As above, is the saddle the correct height for you and not too far back or forward? Often a tiny adjustment will make all the difference. Also are you wearing cycling shorts when out on the bike, or normal attire?

Sounds like it could be worth a visit to a bike shop for a proper fitting. Potentially expensive I know, but surely worth it in the long run?

There are videos on YouTube which could provide a cheaper alternative.

I'm no expert but I think I'd try one in your case, there seems to be alot out there/ online to buy.

Bikefit or at the very least a saddle fit which can just mean measuring your sit bones. I had saddle sores with several different saddles then found out I needed a wider one. Now having done a few hundred KMs on a Fizik Aliante problem solved for me, but its all very personal in the saddle department...

The Aliante, having read posts on the internet and advise in general is better when it is tilted back more, not forward. Tilting forward is likely to put more weight on your sit bones whereas tilting back brings the weight further forward, its all a balancing act and very personal....

Also it can take a few 100 KMs to break in a saddle properly, this doesn't mean enduring something that is downright painful but an hour usually doesn't give a long term indication...

Full bikefit I would recommend then, if you feel you have exhausted everything? How the bike fits you can have an enormous impact on your rear end no matter what saddle is on there or where it is pointing. Your going to say there isn't a bikefit center near you, well I had that issue too and flew from Southern Spain to Mallorca, best money I ever spent for a number of issues the Retul system sorted me out. The place I went to also has pressure mapping of your posterior so they can see what's going on....

Might all be a bit OTT for you, but depending on how serious you are could be a shortcut to an answer.

it sounds as if its pressing on the "gooch"(perineum),i had this and tried a saddle with a cut out ,got the numb feeling a lot and couldnt seem to solve it with the saddle i had ,worked wonders for me

may b different wording for a female but its the same ,roughly:blush:
