Seriously, I rode the hybrid today for the first time after a week of not being well enough to work. I had a headwind but my god it felt like riding a tank.
Yeah same thing happened to me when I switched last year from hybrid to carbon road bike and boy oh boy it was like never again.....I have 1 week ago sold my hybrid

I'd do this but I worry about the winter weather. Plus we go out as a family on the hybrids every now and again. It's quite mad tho! Can't wait for the spring weather when I won't be so worried about road salt and wotnot

Been upgrading my roadie bit by bit to shed some of its 12.4kg weight - but i still love getting on the hybrid and hittng the towpaths and cycle tracks in the welsh valleys.

Your right about the weather - next year my plan is to get a winter/touring bike. Keep my roadie for summer. I dont go out when the road has just been gritted but do I ride around when the frost is slowly shifting in the morning. I wash it and clean it after every use (well decent ride of 2 or more hours) and oil it as well.
Makes sense then to keep using the hybrid for rides with the family. Just dont bore them to death like I do about how wonderful your road bike is....when out on the hybrid!
