Apart from the pub in our village which is full of ruddy faced gentlemen wearing worn tweed and toting pitchforks, I steer clear of pubs. All the little kiddies who've had a few wine gums want to fight the biggest feller, and its tiresome.

Also, this pub was full of old codgers and an old dog doddering about, so hardly the hippest place on the planet anyway.

That said, yes, there is a certain type of pub I tend to avoid these days too (They don't sell decent beer anyway).

MDB, I'm a little suspicious regarding the accuracy of your recollections of an incident which occurred three hours in to a drinking session.

Location
Loch side.
"Lucille"
In a bar in Toledo
Across from the depot
On a bar stool she took off her ring
I thought I'd get closer
So I walked on over
I sat down and asked her name
When the drinks finally hit her
She said I'm no quitter
But I finally quit livin' on dreams
I'm hungry for laughter
And here ever after
I'm after whatever the other life brings

In the mirror I saw him
And I closely watched him
I thought how he looked out of place
He came to the woman
Who sat there beside me
He had a strange look on his face
The big hands were calloused
He looked like a mountain
For a minute I thought I was dead
But he started shakin'
His big heart was breakin'
He turned to the woman and said

You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille
With four hungry children
And a crop in the field
I've had some bad times
Lived through some sad times
But this time your hurtin' won't heal
You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille

After he left us
I ordered more whisky
I thought how she'd made him look small
From the lights of the bar room
To a rented hotel room
We walked without talkin' at all
She was a beauty
But when she came to me
She must have thought I'd lost my mind
I couldn't hold her
'Cos the words that he told her
Kept coming back time after time

You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille
With four hungry children
And a crop in the field
I've had some bad times
Lived through some sad times
But this time your hurtin' won't heal
You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille

Yehbut..........you have a phone number and an expression of interest. I'd say you've had a very successful evening. Was she a looker and will you follow up, not that I'm nosey or anything.....
He already said the dog looked a bit mangy, so my guess is no: she wasn't a looker. :okay:

Sounds like a good night out to me...it is the reason I don't drink anymore...too many weird happenings...the lone, wandering star will always wake up to a cacophonous, kaleidoscopic blur of wonderment...just be thankful you didn't wake up with someone's dodgy breath beating on your face and no idea how to make a swift exit...can be ever so strenuous with a hangover.

I hope you didn't lead her on.Her partner might just have collared you.Are you going again she might have her pal with her.But if you are in a relationship, she is barking up the wrong tree.

I'll get my coat and take myself for walkies.

It's a brilliant tale though.
