I think I am going to go for about 20 miles a day with a few longer rides just to try and get 1000km for the month. I have some things around the house I need to get done and I want to do a little more walking/jogging and maybe even a little weight training  started this month. I planned for April and May to be geared more toward trying to get my physical health in better order. It was about the most important thing for me to do that I could think of. ;)

Well a steady ride out tonight just to loosen off the legs a bit. New rear brake blocks fitted, bike nice and clean.
What have I let myself in for !!!

My main bike is still filthy from my little off road excursion yesterday. I am going out to clean it up right now ! You are in for fun! The warmer weather makes it much better.

I think you and I both need to have a formal review of our ticker mileage/distance. We both seem to be rather too well ahead of schedule!
Any thoughts on a realistic mileage for the year? Hard to know for me because this will be the first year back after the world tour and I have no idea what I really expect to do (other than potentially get around to returning to miles instead of kilometers....)

PS - I think I may need to include Supersuperleeds in that review as well looking at how close to completion his green bar is... (goes back to check 'his' part...)
Yes. I think you are right. Wonder if it would be too ambitious to double it and make it 4000 miles for the year. I'll stick to miles. Can't get my head round kms. Would still use pounds, shillings and pennies too if I could. Lol

4000 miles is my goal for the year and I am sticking to it. I about wore out the Google KM to miles convertor this month.

Hmmm, started May off with another official day of rest  I knew the wind was going to pick up and should really have gone out at the crack of dawn as usual but my back felt niggly even lying in bed. It is now pretty breezy and drizzly but I have at least walked the dog our 4 1/2 mile route by the river......even jogged about a mile of it.

Tomorrow is to be calmer but really cold first thing but I will wrap up well and get out first thing I think.

I had had similar ideas of doubling it as well, but if I average 800km a month til the end of the year, that is still going to leave me way over... (8*800=6,400km plus the rounded up 3,000km I have already done...) still I have no idea what the next 2 weeks are going to bring. 8,000km/5,000miles could be a sensible 'aim', not sure. I had hoped at some point to 'learn' to cycle more than 60miles in a day... current aim is to get a 75miler in and take it from there.

I hope I can do 500km in May and improve fitness / speed / distance. I work from home so no comute for me unfortunatelly, will have to find time during the day for quick spins. As for rest days, they feel wierd in the sense that I could use a break and legs are hurting to some degree all the time but not being out on the bike one day feels wrong, like I'm missing something important.

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I am riding and feeling tired I say to myself I need some time off, but when I take it I start to get agitated and think I should just have gone out. Never happy are we!

Aiming to do around 400 miles, april was my best month ever at 390 miles, commute is only 5 miles each way but into a wind can seem like a lot more than that

Strava challenges defo make you get out more on the bike than maybe you usually would ^_^
