Polar Bears are virtually invisible to infra red cameras. Being mainly nocturnal, this has made estimating their true numbers practically impossible.
There must be other ways to detect them. I mean, if you excite a polar bear, surely it's going to emit something as it returns to its ground state.

Due to a design error HMS Hood sat 4 or 5 feet lower in the water than intended. As a consequence, it was a very 'wet' ship and diseases such as tuberculosis were relatively common aboard.

Sailors who served aboard often referred to it as the largest submarine afloat.

In medieval England, poverty was so great that the poor couldn't afford to have children due to the extortionate cost of midwives, so it became a sign of wealth to have offspring. Those aspiring to be seen as middle class, would take the children of the poor, and raise them as their own.

This practice led to the celebrations on a 'new' baby, to differentiate the truly rich, from those who could only acquire second hand babies.
