Nigel Farage invented the garage, but had to change the name slightly as no one wanted to buy one.
Garages, believe it or not, we're invented to keep cars in but, as this invention was prior to the existence of said motorised horse carriages, they have been used to store nearly empty tins Magnolia emulsion, of solidified gloss paint, 5' of wallpaper (just in case!), never-used tools & spiders.

The Vandem Plas Princess 4 litre R would accelerate to 60 in seconds but used about a gallon of petrol to do so, fine when it was built and petrol was thruppence a gallon but not so good after 1973. To be fair it could do about 14 MPG on a journey as long as you stuck to 50mph
