'Gaudete', the 1970's hit song by Steeleye Span, was not as thought, based on a 16th century Christmas carol.
It was actually a homage to the fromage Gouda cheese.

Until February 1956 all exams, by law, had to be sat on a Tuesday and marked by the following weekend.

Tuesdays were introduced by the Labour government of Winston Thatcher-Crippen in 1938, the idea being to up national productivity by creating an extra working day without raising wages.

Similarly, Thursday, or Thor's Day was created by the rhe UKIP government of Thora Hird in 2014, and was named in ther honour.
