Introduced following a fire on 10 November 1935 in a house on Wimpole Street in which five women were killed. A neighbour had tried to telephone the fire brigade and was so outraged at being held in a queue by the Welbeck telephone exchange that he wrote a letter to the editor of The Times, which prompted a government inquiry.

So remember, Wimpole Street.

Wimples come from Wimpole Street. As do Wombles.

However a Wombat/Womble cross wearing a wimple in Wimpole Street is quite rare.

The interstellar cigar shaped object 1l/2017 U1 which astronomers believed was sent by extraterrestrials from a nearby planetary system was in fact just a rock.

Further checks revealed it was actually seaside Rock, and when broken in half it was found to say "Blackpool" all the way through the middle.

If Yorkshire were an independent country it would have finished an incredible twelfth on the league table in the 2012 Olympics, gaining 7 Golds, 2 Silvers and 3 Bronze. Athletes include Jessica Ennis, who competed in the Heptathlon, boxer Nicola Adams and cyclist Ed Clancy.

In 2016 Yorkshire re-affirmed its Olympic status with a remarkable 14th place on the league table.
