Peas used to be available in numerous colours, much like M&Ms.

However, as part of the war effort it was decreed that all peas should be green to help identify them as vegetables. Due to a quirk of parliamentary process, the Pea Standardisation Act (1940) has never been repealed and it remains illegal for peas to be any other colour.

The pass mark for the PSA test used to be 75%. However, due to declining standards, it has been reduced to 40%. This allows the government to report that more people are passing than ever before.
