In the lead up to Christmas 1835, a stagecoach driver called Edward Jenkins was drunk while driving the Gloucester to Carmarthen mail coach along the Brecon–Llandovery stretch of the A40.

The original landcover was conceived. The later Land Rover Discovery, was of course discovered, in the town of Diss in Norfolk.

The first Land Rover had a steering wheel in the middle

The designer worked on a farm in Wales, and to emulate the experience of driving a tractor he placed the steering wheel in the middle of the dashboard.

This ruled out left-hand drive.
