My BMI is 18.7 and my WHR 48.6%, but I'm not sure that tells you more than just looking at the way muscles have wasted and fat accumulated. A year after I quit cycle touring my weight hadn't changed, but the rib cage like a xylophone had disappeared under a layer of fat. My diet's better than average by pretty much any metric you care to name, but that alone isn't a a lot of help without exercise.

Apparently we have a tendency to under estimate our ideal fat percentage. The ‘ideal’ presented in the media is not what would be considered the ‘norm’, but that of the endurance athlete, model or body builder. These are at the lower extreme (around 3% body fat) the average would be nearer 23%, depending on age.

Holding the knife and fork while steering isn't easy

Isn't there a one handed thing called a spork or something

or is that just for posh buffets

I was actually thinking of one of those baskets on the front so you could put your fish and chips in and get it out with your hand

not sure where you would put the ketchup??

and anyway - the manage to eat OK on the TdF so it must be possible - and they did it before the modern times with normal food I believe!
not sure the TdF rider have F&C but whatever

As Oliver Hardy said 'Size is no excuse for clumsiness'.
Watch their dance routine in their film 'The Music Box', and Stan's steps are rather clumsy in comparison to Ollie who appears to almost flow along.

There is the (quite good surprisingly) sequel to The Blues Brothers with John Goodman replacing Belushi, who sadly was no longer with us. Cleverly, instead of making Goodman the funny man, they kept Akroid as the straight man made Goodman the even straighter man. Anyhow in the song and dance scenes Goodman is a superb dancer, not just a fat man dancing but a genuine hoofer in his own right

Do you salivate at a Pukka Pie poster?

If you do then youre fat.

This is the scientific and authoritative test the NHS should adopt.

Absolutely. I know a guy who was very fit, a good cyclist, excellent stamina and endurance. He was significantly overweight, with it all sitting on his very large "bloated" looking stomach. He's had a range of health issues, now diagnosed type 2 diabetes and can no longer ride.

The main cause? An appalling diet.

Odd situation, why diabestes precludes him from cycling. I would have thought exercise would be beneficial for controlling blood sugar levels.

Or is it his health has declined and no longer able to cycle?

Kickbacks ,never far away for a drug they can sell to the masses

The pharmaceutical watchdog has reprimanded Wegovy maker Novo Nordisk for failing to correctly disclose dozens of payments to the UK health sector as it sought to boost sales of its slimming drugs.
