Oakley and prescription are massively expensive as they bond the prescription lense to the oakley lense. Not seen any RX inserts.

That said you can get Chinese copys with an RX insert for the Radar style glasses. I've just ordered some without the oakley logo, to see if the rx insert is ok. Will cost 25 to get lenses fitted. If the optical view is poo with the glasses then its just 12 quid spent.

The optical issues come from the glasses, not the inserts.

Has anyone added prescription lenses to their Oakleys? I've got the half-jackets and this place and a few others, appear to do the prescription inserts only.

Expensive but I only use mine with contacts and I use contacts less and less due to not being able to read with the sodding things in anymore.

I've had two pairs of Oakley sunglasses. One pair, M frames I bought in 1997 with two lenses. I wore them a lot, thought I didn't really like the style of them tbh, but I bought them because the retailer demonstrated how good/ tough the lenses were by firing an air pistol at them. The lenses did not crack, though I didn't really think anyone would be firing an air gun at me, I thought at the time they must be quite good gear to withstand that. It never occurred to me to fire a gun at any other makes of glasses. I sold them on Ebay last year, well worn for £50.

Last year I was given another pair of the washisname jacket ones as gift, they are lovley, the frame are comfortable, sturdy, and stylish. The lenses seem to do the job very well indeed. A couple of weeks ago something it me on the lense, made a hell of a noise, not a mark. I'm not sure what hit me, a fly, stone, bee, it was hard enough to startle me though.

There are something's I will not compromise on as far as cycling is concerned and eye wear is one of them.

I just bought a pair of Path Radar for £30 and they are genuine!

Livestrong limited edition!

A further £ 8 for black sleeves and £38 is not a bad price

Yes, but with limited success

My Rudy Project Rx take varifocal lenses so for touring are brilliant

The Oakleys only take a single prescription lens at double the price

hmmm, yes it had occurred to me to sell the Oakleys and go for a different system. I shall check out the Rudy Project ones.

I have the jawbones and they're brilliant. Little holes in the lense to stop them fogging up. They sit well on the face and the colour correction is brilliant.....they almost make bright colours jump out at you

I'm on my second pair of Oakleys and I really think they are fantastic. The first pair I managed to drop in a canal when rescuing my dog - it's a long story!

Value is subjective and personal, and to me they are worth every penny. I did have a pair of Smith V ti which I used for cycling with three interchangeable lenses - the main lens was polarized and the clarity and quality was the only thing I've ever tried which to me were in the same league as the Oakleys. Sadly though an off on my MTB meant my Smiths are no longer, so my Oakleys now get used for cycling as well as being my everyday sunnies.

The only downside is that I only have one lens for my Oakleys which is a very dark Iridium black mirror (which my wife reckons makes me look like a hitman) and I find it a bit too dark for overcast days, or really anything but bright sunshine. But that's my fault, not the glasses.

I've got Jackknife 4.0s as my every day prescription glasses with transitions lenses. Lets just say they cost an arm and a leg. Great everyday glasses though and had the lens updated last year.

I've got a pair of Jawbones with transitional lenses and some polarized ones for very sunny days. They're great, work well and no issues with fogging up. Not cheap though...
