goo_mason said:Thanks for that, Magnatom ! Like others, I've been waiting all day to see this when I got home (YouTube's blocked at work, understandably !).
Made my day that - what a laugh you gave me, and the look on his face was priceless. A fine example of "the lights are on but nobody's home", that expression !
I don't understand why people think you should have kept quiet - that's the problem these days, no-one speaks up for themselves and no-one's willing to confront anyone else over their behaviour. We keep our heads down, walk on and look the other way for fear of bringing attention to ourselves or for fear of violence. Yet we still feel the need to bemoan society and its ills, without taking some responsibility for trying to do something about it.
The bewildered-looking chap in your video might just learn something - that having a wee flashing light on your rucksack isn't going to defend you against a vehicle ploughing into you when you're somewhere you shouldn't be. That red-light-jumping is illegal. That not every cyclist thinks it's one of those laws that they can pick and choose to ignore. That one day his antics might mean that he never completes his journey. That other cyclists will call you out on your behaving like an @rseh0le.
(Ooooo... that was in danger of turning into a rant. Phew ! Stopped in time....)
magnatom said:Well you think this guy was a numpty (ok at least I did!) I had a numpty first class tonight on the way home. I overtook him close to my work. At a junction further along he caught up with me at a junction I was turning right at. Just as I was turning he sneaked past me on my right, swerving past me during my turn. He noticed he had cut me up and waved me past... fair enough.
Anyway in the tunnel (which at the moment is two way) he sits right on my tail on the way down (I'm going slower due to the possibility of oncoming cyclists). Further down, I pulled away a bit, but on the way uphe caught up again (I wasn't racing). We come to a curved section where you can't see around the corner and he decided at this point to overtake! There is no way he could have have avoided any oncoming cyclists and a collision would have been nasty.
I'll post the video when I get a chance.
What is it with cyclists at the moment!

goo_mason said:Like I've experienced with motorists on the last two cold, icy days I've cycled - there seems to be a desperation to get home when the weather's not so good. It seems to manifest itself in some crazy, risky driving just to get home that little bit quicker. Seems to affect cyclists as well !!
Not really, an acronym has to make a pronouncable word.HF2300 said:Yay snapper! Four pages after proposal and it's got an acronym already...

You might want to have a look at the big yellow sign above the entrance to that tunnel

IIRC it says 'cyclists dismount and use pathway' under that graffiti.
[That said, I cycle both ways - but when I go the wrong way, I'll fully aware it's my responsibility to make sure there's no way someone coming the other way will crash in to me no matter how stupid they're being. And regardless of that I agree it's completely irresponsible to overtake on the blind corners.]
