I don't agree with his method of going across the junction, but TBH if you were to speak to me like that I'd be telling you to f*ck off. I share with you the annoyance of people who are bad cyclist/drivers, I just think you take the whole thing too far.

What is it with RLJers, most of the time they do that but I still catch them up anyway although that doesn't apply to every RLJer I see.

Agree with EMD,it's not my job.

(and less likely to receive agro)

I don't receive aggro (99.9% of the time) and like to think most sensible motorists do actually understand why I push a bit forward.(but I don't jump)

OTOH it also depends on circumstances and whether big vehicles are at the lights.Bank Junction/Southwark Bridge can require different tactics.(Means I take the magnatom positioning and if it's a big lorry/bus I try to be visible in his/her mirror)

That's your prerogative. It's also my prerogative to say something. I've said things to cyclists before and I know that they have changed the way they behave as a result (on particular chap spings to mind who apologised!).

That junction is really, really dangerous to be wandering out like that on. I've seen some crazy driving there. So if there is a small chance I could save him at some future date then I will say something. What is the problem with that?

More selfishly, his antics are happening on my route, i.e. where I cycle. So drivers who regularly drive that route who seem him, are that little bit more likely to take annoyance out on the next cyclist they see, i.e. me. So I feel it is in my best interests to take action.

To many people turn blind eyes to too many things these days (not directing this at anyone in particular I might add)

My 2p worth.

I fear that one day someone is going to do you some serious damage.

Thanks for your concern! I am more than aware of my vulnerability and my own limitations, and have in the past refrained from saying anything if I felt it would reduce my own safety. I often feel that saying something enhances it.

People often say the same thing about posting my videos on youtube, especially as I am not anonymous. However, I'd like to think it has done more good than harm.

You wouldn't have caught me, but if you said anything to me you'd have got an earful back to be honest.

I know he's in the wrong, he knows he's in the wrong. Why not just leave him to it?

I'm not sure that was worth making a video about. I probably would have said something too, but a video?

;)

That's a strange reply from you BM. I thought you understood why I post my videos. It is to show what happens to me when I commute to work on my bike. I show what drivers do, I show what pedestrians do, I show what I do, and I show what other cyclists do.

It educates, stimulates debate, and hopefully shows that we all make mistakes and that we can all learn from them.

I kept my comments in at the end as:

a) they were mildly amusing (not preplanned, just what I said, warts and all)

 The reaction of the cyclist shows he he was probably the type of cyclist who wasn't fully aware of what was going on around him.

So why not post?

That sounds like a challenge for a race ;).

As I said above, fair enough, but what if what I said, made him think? What if, the next time he comes to that junction he decides against trundling across?

Then maybe my comment will have been worth it.

I've met cyclists who honestly thought they were allowed to run red lights. You can't be sure he wasn't one of them.

No worries Magnatom, you don't have to justify it. I just thought it was entirely unremarkable, but then that's the case for hundreds of red light jumpers I see here in London all the time. It's only the more extreme ones that I'll bother to film.

I've just got my Lee and Col hackles up at the moment!

I don't mind justifying what I do. It's a good exercise to do it every once in a while to keep yourself in check!

I know it looks unremarkable, but as I said, anyone who knows that junction, knows how bad an idea moving out there is!

Maybe I'm posting it because my commute has been soooo quiet recently. All of the drivers have been behaving really well recently, so I'm having to film cyclist antics, and the occasional fall!

I love that fact that for all the fannying about at the junction, you caught him so quickly. I especially like the fact that from the look of it I'd have caught him up too, and I'm not that speedy.

Never mind, he had all that hi-vis and a light, so he was obviously perfectly safe.....

I'm quite taken aback that anyone thinks magnatom iss out of order for speaking to the guy.
Do we really not think that motorists tend to generalise? The rest of the human race does.
I reckon I, as a cyclist, get some grief and less respect than I might do, because among other reasons of those who behave like The Prat of Anniesland.
