Good quality shorts with a thinnish but stiffish pad that can't wrinkle, will make a big difference. I have two pairs of dhb shorts and the ones with the thick gel pads are much less comfortable and more sweaty than the better ones with the thinner firmer pad.

I cannot beat the above post!!:hyper: But my fave saddle is a sonomo 155 on my spesh hybrid!! If i had spare cash I would purchase a couple more for other bike and a spare!!

what ever the female version is, i am suffering  now that i am going further and longer rides i think i need to save up for some decent padded shorts. My 14 euro decathalon ones have been fine but i think 4 or 5 hours in the saddle is a bit much to expect:headshake:

My new road bike had a saddle on it that I couldn't get on with. I had lots of problems. And came up with a name for the equiivalent of numb-nuts. Minihooha trouble . Never needed to come up with a word for it before - can't believe after all these years it is necessary . Anyway, my padded shorts were fine, so I changed the saddle - it drops down at the front so you don't get squashed ;)

[QUOTE 2566045, member: 9609"]Saddles are strange things, how come this one (including it's strange upward tilt) is the most comfortable saddle ever in the history of the universe. don't even wear padded cycling shorts. Unless there is something decidedly wrong with my nuts.

Sorry about your troubles, Stephanie :hugs:
As others said, a break during the ride will help, or a softer saddle maybe.
The only time I had this problem was because of a really hard "pointed" saddle.

The Glue that binds us together.
My other half finally settled on a Specialized toupe, after trying 6 different saddles including women specific, but the toupe is the one with a pair of Castelli bibs, she will be doing a 100 mile ride this weekend and she is happy with the setup.

It's worth repeating what someone said earlier up the thread - you should be sitting on your sit bones. If the set up of your bike is forcing you to put all your weight on your "soft tissue" then that's what you need to correct before changing saddles, buying new shorts etc.

What coffeejo says in post #30 is true for males as well. It's pressure on soft tissues that causes problems.

I use a Brooks B17 and a Charge spoon on the 2 bikes and in both cases they need to be set so the angle of the front part is down enough that there's (only just) no pressure on the soft tissue and all the downward force is on the so-called sit bones.

My wife uses a very wide saddle with springs under it, but the same principle applies. If the front is upwards enough to put pressure on soft tissue then numbness results.

The difference between bliss and agony is only a few degrees of tilt.

I will gladly swap numb nuts for painful ones...

That was not bike caused. My saddles are dead comfy..... Lest said about the other bits.....
