Sigh, what with the weather, a busy working life, and just family stuff , I haven't managed a cycle in two weeks.

Hopefully I will get out tomorrow morning, even for just 10 miles or so.

Wish me luck - an any thoguhts on fitting in extra cycles, or what to wear to stay warmer so I don't skip it lol!

My plans were turned to crap this morning too by unexpected visit from family, if only I had set my alarm and got out of the door before 8am... Anyway, tomorrow is another day, my aim is to get out before 9am.

Have you got any targets for what you want to achieve with the bike?

I find it easy to find excuses not to do things unless I have a set purpose, but having targets, especially little ones that I can tick off as done seem to keep me more motivated.

Oh, and get a coat and some mudguards and the weather doesn't stop you

Well, it is sunny! So I am going to grab a quick bite to eat then go.

I only have cycling shorts, but they have a lycra inner with a padded bit, so I am going to see if I can wear them under a pair of gym leggins, that way my legs might be a bit happier ... I've got a nice hi viz jacket, so that should do the top half.

Thanks, will let you know how I get on.

Unless you're young, free and single if you don't/can't commute on your bike I think getting the miles in is always going to be a struggle. About two-thirds of my annual mileage is commuting.

I am not young free and single, and while I do commute sometimes, it is not always practical.

However, I went out this morning - just for five miles, but that was five more miles than I have done all week, and it was baltic.

My body was warm enough, but I thought my ears would fall off. Any suggestions other than wearing a balaclava under my helmet?

You need a Buff it can go from the neck up or head down, the polar version is great for the bracing Scottish winter

I have a balaclava and it works well under my helmet.

Had ride around the Malvern hills this morning 24 miles average speed 13.6mph not great but fun. A car full of yobs passed and shouted abuse - really winds me up.

Enjoy your riding

I don't know, these soft Scottish lasses these day, they don't make em like they used too

Top Tip Mitchy

Grab bike, open door, get out, complain when you get back home to hubby

you could always wear a buff to keep the cold off your ears and it won't feel tight under your cycle helmet

Now get out on that bike

Dont beat yourself up about it too much!

I had two weeks off due to a knee injured playing 5-a-side which just about healed.. then dis a 100 mile charity ride yesterday to blow the cobwebs out.

Thank god the knee took the punishment but I did feel unfit and struggled for the last twenty miles big time.
