It's still faulty. Doesn't work on timer, due to pressure relief valve issues. Fixing that tomorrow, hopefully. Can still be fiddled manually, sort of, and hot water is OK.
@DCBassman might be worth seeing if you can sweet talk the engineer into giving you a mobile number for emergency call outs over Christmas/Boxing Day when they have skeleton crew on.

Really hope there's no need. Most of the important bits have now been replaced. After today's fix, it really ought to last another two weeks or so. I hope!
Just read this post and feel your pain.
Mine packed up 2 days before Christmas.
I managed to get an engineer round on Christmas Eve to take a look and diagnosed the water pump had failed resulting in it tripping the boiler.
I've spent Christmas huddled by the calor gas heater gassing my self out the house. I was shocked by how much a 15 kg bottle for them are nowadays £50.
Can't wait till after New year to when he will return and get it sorted out
