Blinking 'eck, I haven't had a King Eddie in a while. I'm as dizzy as a duck. I'm only used to prison roll ups.

Anyway, back to fettling.

I doubt Park Tool provide a video of this particular method and I'm pretty sure Sheldon Brown wouldn't approve, but it worked:

I used the old bearing casing and the trusty knockometer to finesse the crown race into position.

So, a good wipe down and a generous application of grease and I'll fit the bearings.

Jesus this is stressful. I hope you're enjoying yourselves.

So that's what grumpy blue looks like! ^_^ I resisted the urge to google it!
That's a lovely colour!

Headset is rolling along nicely. Well done!

I'm heading out to work now, so I'll look forward to checking your progress in the morning.

Best of Luck!
Cheers.

I've forgotten where I am now, give me a sec and I'll re-read the thread....

Ah, that was it.

So, more grease on the bearings than John Travolta's hair then slide it all together (then desperately search through the parts bin to find all the original spacers), slide on the stem and make sure there's a three millimetre gap (wipes brow in relief). Then it's just a case of fitting the star nut.

Once again, an absolute swine to get in straight. Eventually, after ten minutes of gentle persuasion, I think we're there:

And here's the finished article:

My very first balance bike.

I think that may be it for tonight, I don't want to miss the cricket highlights. All comments gratefully received.
